Gaston
Rebry was born in Belgium in 1933 and was a competitive cyclist like his father, but gave up the sport to study drawing at Menen Academy before coming to Canada in 1954. Rebry studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal, while working as a traveling salesman. It took him ten years to establish himself as a full time painter.
Rebry never tired of painting, he never lacked inspiration. For him a painting must be beautiful but also well done out of respect for the person who might be buying it.
A good painting he maintained should rest on a solid technical foundation with good colour combinations. His work is in many private and public collections around the world. |
