Claude
Théberge was born in 1934 in Edmundston, New Brunswick. He
lived out his childhood in the Lower Saint
Lawrence region where his family originated. Claude at 18
won first prize amongst 65,000 artists, in a poster
competition (sponsored by the United Nations) on the theme
of world peace.
The young Claude studied
Graphic Arts, under masters such as Plamondon, Dallaire,
Gagnon, Bastien, East and Jean-Paul Lemieux. A graduate of
the School of Fine Arts of Quebec in 1954, he continued his
artistic studies in Paris until 1960, studying, successively,
at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, the National School of
Decorative Arts and the École du Louvre.
Mr.
Théberge
is an internationally recognized Canadian artist with works
exhibited
in major galleries around the world. An engaging and
intellectual man with a welcoming manner, a love
of life and a spirit that is unmistakably reflected in his
work. Sadly,
Mr. Théberge passed away May 15, 2008.
His incredible talent, charm and humour will be missed by
many. |
